Foundation Stage Initiative Project

What is it?

The Project supports the employment of the Foundation Stage Teacher.

The Foundation Stage Initiative Project provides all private Early Years Practitioners with access to a wide range of opportunities to develop their practice within their Foundation Stage settings.  The opportunities exist through the Foundation Stage Teacher, Network Meetings, training and resources for loan.

How is the Foundation Stage Initiative Project Funded?

The Foundation Stage Initiative Project is funded by the Department for Education, Sport and Culture (ESC) and the Foundation Stage Teacher is employed by ESC and contracted to the Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT).

How can the Project be accessed?

If you are a private childcare setting, offering the Foundation Stage curriculum to children, you can access the Foundation Stage Initiative Project.  This includes all the training, the Network Meetings and the Foundation Stage Teacher's advice and support in your own setting.  Once you have identified the areas of support that individual practitioners, or the setting as a whole would like, contact the Foundation Stage Teacher.

What is the Foundation Stage Teacher's role?

The Foundation Stage Teacher is a resource, which can be used by the setting to support Foundation Stage Practice.

The role is to offer advice and support on all aspects of the Foundation Stage Curriculum to develop more good practice.  This advice is to encourage practitioners to be reflective about their current practice for the benefit of the children.

Support and advice can be through visits to the setting, meetings with managers and practitioners, staff meetings, parents meetings, facilitating training and providing relevant resources for loan.
