Island Walkers to Support Us

We are proud to announce that we have been chosen as one of three main charities to receive the funds raised by walkers from the 26th annual Around the Island Walk 2017.  On Saturday 24th June, at 3am, the walkers will leave Elizabeth Terminal to walk the 48-mile walk around Jersey, which this year has been sponsored by State Street.

The event is split into three categories:

  • Main Walk (48 miles) – for those who relish the physical challenge,
  • Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge (13 miles) – ideal for those with young families, or less of an appetite to conquer all 48 miles at once!
  • Relay (48 miles) – for teams of four to take on the main walk.

The gruelling nature of the walk is what sets it apart from other charity events and why, over the years, more than 20,000 participants have raised over £2,077,000 with every penny raised by walkers distributed to local charities.

Putting families first is at the very heart of everything we do.  We support young children with special educational needs and disabilities so they can go to mainstream nurseries across the Island.  The extra support is provided by Support Workers from the Special Needs Inclusion Project and costs us an average of £240 per month for each child.  Last year, we supported 37 children with special educational needs and disabilities in 18 nurseries – fundraising by brave walkers will help support this Project.

You can register for the walk here and find out more information here.
